Personal Pursuits

The passions and practices that keep me grounded, from running and reading to dance, writing, and reflection.

Tennis

Tennis has been a part of my life since I was four years old — a sport that’s taught me focus, discipline, and leadership. Competing in national tournaments across Singapore and serving as Varsity Captain at UWCSEA East, I led our team to its best-ever finish — 2nd place at SEASAC and 3rd in the ACSIS League. I also had the opportunity to serve as a ballboy at the ATP 250 Singapore Open, assisting players such as Marin Čilić, Alexei Popyrin, and Alexander Bublik, which offered an inside look at the precision and mindset of professional athletes.

Running

Running is where I find rhythm and reflection. Recently, I placed in the top 20 of all U19 Runners in the Singapore Standard Chartered Marathon (26.2 miles). As part of Runninghour Singapore, I also run weekly with differently-abled athletes, guiding them during long-distance sessions and sharing the joy of movement. At the 24-Hour Race Singapore, I ran 64 kilometers in 9 hours, finishing 2nd overall and raising funds to fight human trafficking — an experience that tied my endurance to purpose.
Here's a photo of my friend and I after running a 10k through Running Hour!

Taekwondo

I’ve been practicing Taekwondo since I was six years old, earning my black belt at twelve after years of sparring sessions, bruises, and pure determination. I still remember eating hawker-centre noodles between training days and pushing through exhaustion during back-to-back sessions. During one grading, I got injured midway through, but was told I couldn’t progress unless I finished. So I did — and that grit earned me my black belt. That moment, standing there in my dobok, was unforgettable. Taekwondo taught me discipline and endurance long before the army did; it taught me to keep fighting, even when I’m hurting.

Dance & Music

Dance has been my creative language for over a decade, a way to express stories beyond words. I’ve performed since I was eight and later served as Choreographer for Kahaani, my school’s annual dance production. I created bhangra–contemporary fusion pieces, mentoring a team of over 40 dancers and leading performances that raised funds for NGOs supporting visually impaired children.
I'm also a multi-instrumentalist; I can play Yankee Doodle on the piano and Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door on the guitar. Playing music has been purest form of joy and expression for me.

Curiosity & Reflection

Reading is how I slow down and make sense of the world. Books like The Things They Carried, It’s What I Do, Born a Crime, and Crazy Rich Asians have shaped how I understand resilience, identity, and belonging across very different lives. Each story reminds me of the power of perspective — that empathy begins with listening.
